In February 2025, the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias hosted the yearly General Assembly for the LIFE ELEKTRA project in Pozo Izquierdo, Gran Canaria. The meeting focused on addressing the current developments and future works of the LIFE ELEKTRA project.
During the visit, consortium members evaluated potential locations for installing a pilot plant, with the collaboration of the Insular Water Council being pivotal in this process. Strategic infrastructures such as the Guía-Gáldar Wastewater Treatment Plant and La Aldea de San Nicolás were toured to assess their suitability for the pilot installation.
The establishment of this experimental plant aims to validate the denitrification technology within the water cycle, contributing to more efficient and sustainable water resource management. This initiative underscores LIFE ELEKTRA’s commitment to the circular economy and the integration of renewable energies in industrial water cycles.
