LIFE ELEKTRA Explores New Opportunities For Circular Water Innovation At Ecomondo 2026

LIFE ELEKTRA was represented at Ecomondo 2026 in Rimini, Italy, by partner organisation REDINN. Leonardo Piccinetti, CEO of REDINN and member of Water Europe, and Fabio Buccolini, member of Utilitalia, the Italian federation of water utilities, attended an exploration workshop focused on the development and commercial opportunities of circular water solutions.

The workshop featured contributions from key experts in the European water sector. Evina Katsuo from Imperial College London presented a start-up and acceleration programme designed to support companies working in the circular water sector, highlighting the importance of helping innovative businesses develop and bring their solutions to market. Beatriz Vidal from the European Environment Agency (EEA) also shared insights into exploitation strategies for water within circular economy investment, addressing opportunities to strengthen the economic and practical uptake of sustainable water solutions.

Participation in these discussions provides valuable opportunities for LIFE ELEKTRA to engage with the wider innovation ecosystem, exchange knowledge and explore the conditions needed to accelerate the adoption of circular water technologies. These topics are particularly relevant to the project’s ambition to demonstrate a sustainable approach to nitrate removal, resource recovery and energy efficiency in water treatment.

Through its involvement in European events and stakeholder networks, LIFE ELEKTRA continues to support knowledge exchange and collaboration towards a more circular, innovative and sustainable water sector.
